Get To Know the Campus Health Center

The Campus Health Center (CHC) is located on the Allendale campus under the new department, Student Health Services, which falls under the Division of Student Affairs (DSA). While many students believe that CHC helps with simple injuries, their services expand far past that.
According to community health specialist Preeti Kasatkar, the CHC’s purpose is to “provide a wide range of resources for GVSU students, including primary medical care, mental health services, health education, and wellness programming".
The Campus Health Center has tons of resources for GVSU students: physical examinations, counseling resources, and crisis intervention, immunizations, LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and educational resources on nutrition, sexual health, and substance abuse,
You can utilize any of the resources that the CHC provides by visiting the website. If you need medical support, you can make an appointment by calling the center. After completing some paperwork about your medical history and the reason for your visit, you’ll meet with a healthcare provider who will help you with your concerns.
The process depends on the nature of your visit, but the CHC is always dedicated to providing students at GVSU with all the support they may need. The center also has financial assistance available for students who don’t seek medical care due to their financial status.
“Working with this population allows me to make a positive impact on the lives of young adults and promote healthy behaviors that can last a lifetime,” says Preeti. “[The CHC’s] approach recognizes that health is not just the absence of disease but encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being.”
The Campus Health Center offers a range of medical and mental health assistance, health education, and wellness education in order to address the needs of the student population. If you ever need to seek out a health service on Allendale’s campus, visit the Campus Health Center for your wellness needs.
