Meet the Office of Student Life!
Author: Grace Hasley
The Office of Student Life (OSL) is a department of the Division of Student Affairs that strives to get students involved by hosting some of the biggest events and involvement opportunities on campus. Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Organizations, Civic Engagement, and the Campus Activities Board are all crucial parts of the OSL. Whether it’s by attending the annual Presidents' Ball, joining up with Greek Life, registering to vote in Kirkhof, or just checking out the Laker Weekly, almost every student has interacted with the OSL in some way.
Leah Erben, the Marketing Communications Coordinator at the OSL, describes the Office of Student Life as “the department of fun”. By hosting over 420 student organizations and organizing dozens of events every year, the OSL lives up to this title. Leah helps to ensure that students don’t miss out on these events.
“When I was a student, my involvement was the best part of my college experience,” they say. Leah’s goal, like many at the OSL, is to make GVSU’s on-campus events and involvement opportunities fun, safe, and accessible to all students.
Students wanting to engage with their interests outside of the classroom can use the OSL’s resources, like browsing LakerLink or reaching out to an involvement assistant, to find the perfect student org. The OSL can also help you start your own brand new student org! New orgs form every year, so there are hundreds of opportunities to find the community that celebrates your hobbies, helps you discover new passions, and builds lasting relationships.
Don't miss out on your chance to make the most of your college experience! The Office of Student Life wants you to you to take advantage of the available resources by discovering more about yourself, meeting people with similar interests, and so much more.
