How to Spend Spring Break in West Michigan

Here are some of the fun ways that you can fill your week off from classes.
Go out to eat!
Treat yourself this break to a meal or two or three or seven! If you’re in the mood for ‘za, check out the best pizza places, according to GVSU students. If you’re all pizza-ed out, this short list of restaurants nearby is bound to keep your tummy happy:
- Tea Time Cafe - Allendale, near Meadows Crossing Apartments
- Stan’s Tacos - Walker, near Meijer
- Westside Social - on Lake Michigan, toward Grand Rapids
- The Electric Cheetah – Eastown
- The Old Goat – Southeast Grand Rapids
Sip on some coffee!
Finding the next best coffee shop is a never-ending quest, and West Michigan might just be home to your new favorite. Take a look at this list of best coffee shops voted on by GVSU students. You can also check out one or all of these local coffee spots for a tasty pick-me-up:
- Midnight Express Cafe - Grand Rapids, near Pew Campus
- Lantern Coffee Bar & Lounge - Grand Rapids
- The Borough - Allendale, across the street from campus
- Outside Coffee Co. – Wealthy Street, Grand Rapids
- The Bitter End – Fulton Street, Grand Rapids (with its own LakerLine stop!)
Venture downtown!
There’s always something to do in Grand Rapids! Hop on the Laker Line to go to these events happening downtown during Spring Break
- World of Winter - Various locations (Jan. 12 - March 10)
- Soundbath – Calder Plaza (March 3)
- Gilda’s Laughfest - Various locations (March 6-12)
- International Women's Day Celebration – Rosa Parks Circle (March 8)

Explore off campus!
If school has been keeping you busy this semester, you might not have had the opportunity to explore the cities around you. Within 30 minutes of campus, you’ll find Grand Haven and Holland, home to:

- Grand Haven Girls on The Grand – fashion show and Taylor Swift Party (March 8-10)
- Lemonjello's - Holland
- Critter Barn – Zeeland
- Grand Haven State Park
Enjoy some ice cream!
The undeniably best sweet treat of the spring and summer months is all around West Michigan. Here are some can’t-miss ice cream shops to cross off of your bucket list:

Have a staycation!

- Try out a new recipe
- Do some spring cleaning
- Find a new study spot without the crowds
