DOs and DON'Ts for Getting a Valentine’s Date
By Grace Hasley
Valentine’s Day is almost here, which means it’s the perfect time to make a romantic gesture to that special someone.
DON’T fake your interests.
Being someone you’re not will only leave you eating a box of chocolates alone. Be yourself and the right person will appreciate every part of your identity.
DO show them you’re interested.
Nothing is more frustrating than playing hard-to-get. If you like them, don’t be afraid to show it! Tell your crush all about your student org or favorite CAB event!
DON’T have a garlic-filled snack.
You might scare your date away with garlic breath before you even get a chance to ask them out. Think ahead!
DO remember the things they like.
Make note of that thing your crush mentioned. Is it the newest merch from the Laker Store? Their coffee order? Maybe they actually do like garlic breath! Whatever it is, remembering your crush’s interests will sweep them off their feet.
DON’T put too much pressure on yourself.
Love is supposed to be fun! Being open to all outcomes will show your confidence. If you want to meet new people, don’t hesitate to head to an on-campus event!
DO go all out. Embrace the holiday to make your crush feel special.
Remember: being romantic doesn’t have to be expensive! Learn how to fold origami anchors, go on a date somewhere nearby, or ace a study date at the library.
DON’T forget that Valentine’s Day isn’t the only day to be romantic.
If you scored a date, congratulations! Every day is a good day to show your love.
DO get creative.
Try to stray from the typical store-bought box of chocolates and roses. Bake your crush a homemade dessert and pick up a bouquet of unique flowers to show them you care.
