December RSO of the Month: Subject to Change Improv Comedy
Congratulations to Subject to Change Improv Comedy, the December RSO of the month! Subject to Change (STC) is an audition-based improv comedy team that performs once a month for hundreds of audience members every semester.
Subject to Change brings laughter through improvisational comedy to GVSU and around Michigan. Along with providing comedy to the Grand Valley community, they’ve provided a community within their team.
“Being involved has allowed me to meet so many people on campus and connect with other students,” says Gabbi Munson, the financial officer of Subject to Change.
Being a member of STC means attending weekly practices to build skills in teamwork, public speaking and presenting, and creativity. STC member Alex Fagan says that students looking to provide laughter by utilizing their creativity and quick thinking will thrive in improv comedy.
“It’s challenged my creative thinking which can oftentimes go amiss in a college setting with so much effort going towards academics," says Alex.
In addition to spending time building skills, STC members like to have fun and hang out. STC member Kristen Fleming is especially grateful for the community that the organization has provided: “I have truly never felt more welcomed and respected in a group of people I can confidently call friends.”
