How to Stay Healthy This Fall!

By Bella Gielniak

As the leaves fall and temperatures drop, the autumn season can bring lots of changes to our health. To celebrate Health Literacy Month, here are four ways to keep yourself healthy this season.

  1. Visit the Campus Health Center

Right on the Allendale campus, the GVSU Campus Health Center is here to help you stay healthy. They provide a wide range of resources for GVSU students, staff, and faculty, including primary medical care, mental health services, health education, and wellness programming.

The downtown Family Health Center will close on Nov. 30, 2023, however the Campus Health Center in Allendale is still open and available for students, faculty, and staff to keep our GVSU community healthy.

2. Get vaccinated for meningitis

Remember to get vaccinated against meningitis. It’s most common to catch meningitis in the fall, so be sure to get your vaccination soon. You can get vaccinated at the Campus Health Center or your family health care provider, so book your appointment today.

3. FREE COVID-19 Tests

Free COVID-19 test kits are available again! You can order here for up to four FREE rapid tests. To protect yourself against COVID-19, remember to wash your hands frequently, wear a mask if you come in contact with someone who tests positive, and stay home if you aren’t feeling well.

4. Brush up on your health literacy

October is Health Literacy Month! Health literacy helps you make well-informed medical decisions to stay safe and healthy.
