How to Homecoming: The Top 5 Homecoming Events

Homecoming is nearly here, which means it’s time to show everyone how to celebrate like a Laker. From voting for Homecoming Royalty to putting together the best lip-syncing team to cheering at the football game, this guide will let you know it all.
It’s time to vote for Homecoming Royal! The eight homecoming court members are students who are active members of the GVSU community who strive to make campus a better place. If there’s a member who you think represents what it means to be a Laker, give them a vote! Vote for the 2023 Homecoming Royalty from Oct. 16-26.
Pick up some flowers in the Kirkhof lobby on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 12-1 p.m. This free event is first-come first serve, so if you want to live out your Miley Cyrus dreams and get yourself flowers, stop by early!
Are you ready to watch people lip-sync for their life? Lip Sync Battle is on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. on the Kirkhof Lawn. This year’s theme is Genre Battle. So get ready to watch as teams duke it out as they compete for which genre reigns supreme.
Put some Pep in your step for the Homecoming Pep Rally! Immediately after the Lip Sync Battle, the Pep Rally will be hyping up the Laker community on the Kirkhof Lawn. Come enjoy the s’mores pits, the food trucks, and a visit from the GVSU football team. Homecoming Royalty will be crowned at Pep Rally, so mark your calendars for this must-see event!
Put on your game face! The GVSU Lakers football team will face off against Michigan Tech on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. Come and support the football team and show Michigan Tech your Laker pride. Students can get in free with a valid student ID. All other GV Football fans can purchase tickets here.
The hype around these events and others is real! Homecoming is a time to get together as a Laker Community to celebrate our wonderful university, so come on out and join the celebration!
